What is our method of prayer?
We practice affirmative prayer which, as Charles Fillmore stated, is the highest form of creative thought. It includes the release of counterproductive, negative thoughts, while holding in mind statements of spiritual truth. We in Unity believe that we create our reality through the activity of our thought. Therefore, coming together with others to pray and hold mindful intentions is very powerful. Unity of Sacramento provides a variety of prayer services for our congregation and community, including a loving and supportive Prayer Chaplaincy and a weekly prayer circle.
Wednesday Prayer Circle
You are invited to join others who gather weekly for prayer. The Wednesday Prayer group meets each week in the Peace Chapel from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The group leader uses Silent Unity’s monthly prayers and affirmations, and each person shares their prayers with the group. This group has been meeting for over 45 years to pray using Unity’s affirmative prayer method and positive, uplifting affirmations to support their intentions and prayers.
The Prayer group is guided by their mission statement which reads:
Our prayer ministry is dedicated to the Truth consciousness in faith and love. We pray for the good of our church, individuals, and situations knowing that God is in charge. As we pray, we open ourselves and others to the higher consciousness of God’s good. Using affirmative prayer and thanksgiving we become part of God’s positive flow.
