WHY GRANDMA'S BACKYARD?

Blessings Beloved Friend,

With all that has taken place following Sacramento District Attorney Shubert and California's Attorney General Becerra's decisions not to file charges against the police officers who killed Stephon Clark,  the decision to build a safe outdoor green space that will serve as a healing oasis for racial healing and reconciliation to traumatized youth is more relevant than ever before. Grandma's Backyard at Unity of Sacramento is a safe recreational play space for pre-school aged children, a community garden for inter-generational bonding, an outdoor amphitheater for concerts and cultural festival and a meeting ground for artists, activists, community and clergy. In Grandma’s Backyard we will build bridges of understanding, heal racial wounds, and celebrate our diversity. Grandma's Backyard will serve as a living memorial to those who tragically lost their lives at the hands of law enforcement, particularly Stephon Clark, who lost his life in his Grandmother's backyard. This is our creative response for bringing a relevant solution that will deeply impact our city.

You can help reclaim the image of Grandma's backyard, stained by the tragic occurance of Stephon Clark's death.  Please give your financial support to Grandma's Backyard, which should always be one of the safest places on the face of the earth for our youth.
